She/Her/Hers |Ella (what’s this?)
“Caminante, no hay puentes, se hace puentes al andar."(Voyager, there are no bridges, one builds them as one walks.) ― Gloria Anzaldúa
I take great pride in my Latina background, which stems from my parents' Mexican and Salvadoran roots. These identities have not only shaped my aspirations but have also motivated me to make a positive impact on my community. My cultural values, like hard work, humility, connection with others, and hope, have contributed to my achievements and instilled a sense of pride in my heritage. Leveraging these cultural strengths is a powerful tool to face uncertainty and fear, take risks, and move forward. Understanding oneself and identifying what truly matters is a vital part of conquering life's challenges. Familiarizing myself with your identities, strengths, and values lays a strong groundwork for productive therapy.
My primary focus is serving diverse populations since I firmly believe that marginalized groups have been let down by existing systems for far too long. As a clinician, I am committed to integrating culture into therapy while also educating upcoming therapists on how to expand their cultural competencies. I believe that therapy can promote cultural sustainability without resorting to a cultural deficit perspective. Diversity, equity, and inclusion is at the forefront of all my work.
As a bilingual therapist based in Texas, I have extensive experience assisting adults with a diverse range of concerns. My approach involves tailoring treatment to each client's specific needs and collaborating with them to achieve their goals.
